VNA racking (Very Narrow Aisle racking) is a type of pallet racking system designed to maximize warehouse space by reducing aisle width and increasing storage density. It works on the same principle as standard selective pallet racking but is configured with much narrower aisles, typically 1.6–2.0 meters wide, compared to 3–4 meters in conventional systems.
To operate in these tighter spaces, specialized VNA forklifts or turret trucks are used. These machines can rotate their forks to pick or place pallets without needing to turn, allowing efficient handling in confined aisles.
Key features of VNA racking:
High storage density: Increases warehouse capacity by up to 40–50% compared to standard selective racking.
Full selectivity: Provides direct access to every pallet, unlike drive-in or push-back racking.
Better space utilization: Maximizes both floor space and vertical height.
Precision handling: Often paired with wire guidance or rail systems to keep forklifts aligned in the narrow aisles.
Ideal for: warehouses with high inventory turnover, limited floor space, and a need for 100% pallet selectivity.
